Softball Recap: Newberg Tigers vs. McMinnville Grizzlies
Newberg had lost six straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 6-15 to make it seven. They lost 13-1 to the McMinnville Grizzlies. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Grizzlies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-3 on May 2nd.
Newberg saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ingaborg Davis, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. That double was Davis' first of the season.
As for McMinnville, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-6. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by six runs or more this season.
On McMinnville's side, Rylan Carton was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those two hits gave Carton a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Vivian Moore, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newberg will venture away from home to face off against Sprague at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for McMinnville, they will head out to take on Sheldon at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Grizzlies will need to watch out since the Irish have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
