Softball Recap: Northville Comes Up Short

Northville had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 2-6 to make it four. They came up short against the Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville Wolves, falling 8-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Falcons of the 17-12 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2018.

As for Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville, they now have a winning record of 8-7. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won five contests by six runs or more so far this season.

For Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville's part, Gianna McAdams was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. McAdams was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sydney Hazzard, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Taylor Hayes, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northville will face off against Schoharie at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville, they will take on Canajoharie at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.9 runs per game on average), something the Wolves will no doubt try to take advantage of.
