Baseball Recap: Foley Has No Trouble Against East Lawrence

Foley was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against East Lawrence on Wednesday. Foley was the clear victor by a 14-8 margin over East Lawrence. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Austin Heiden made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring four runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Foley is undefeated when Heiden posts two or more runs, but 7-9 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kolby Jordan, who went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Gavin Glass was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.

Foley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Foley's record now sits at 15-9. As for East Lawrence, their loss was their 24th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-17.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Foley Lions challenge Chilton County Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for East Lawrence, they will head out to square off against Danville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. East Lawrence is facing Danville at the right time seeing as Danville is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
