Football Recap: Cabrillo Comes Up Short at Home Against Gahr

Cabrillo unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were outmatched by the Gahr Gladiators and fell 54-0. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

Even if they lost, Cabrillo's defensive line still kept up the pressure with six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Jade Kingsley and Jada Bryant, who racked up five sacks between them.

MaryJayne Brenes was nothing short of spectacular for Gahr: she threw for 181 yards and four TDs while completing 78.9% of her passes, and also rushed for 86 yards on only six carries. Camarra Brown-Stanton got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Gahr has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Cabrillo didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 33-22 victory against Glenn on the 15th. As for Gahr, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 34-13 win against Cypress on the 15th.
