Softball Recap: Dunmore Starts Season with Victory Against Carbondale Area

Dunmore had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Carbondale Area Chargers on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Bucks in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now won six in a row.

Rachel Walsh was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emily McGowan, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Bella Pasko was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double.

Carbondale Area is on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Dunmore will welcome West Scranton at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Carbondale Area, they are taking a road trip to take on Lakeland at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
