Basketball Recap: Falkner Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

It was a Battle of the Birds when Falkner duked it out withMyrtle on Friday. The Falkner Eagles strolled past the Myrtle Hawks with points to spare, taking the game 68-52. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Falkner had a senior duo take command as Elijah Mauney dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten boards and Chris Nunley posted 16 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds. Nunley has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last ten times he's played. Anthony Morgan was another key player, putting up six points and five boards.

Falkner was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Falkner, bringing their record for this year to 9-7. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.5 points per game. As for Myrtle, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-14.

Falkner will have a chance to go back-to-back against Myrtle: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on January 24th.
