Basketball Recap: Sadie Goodwin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Chatfield over Rocky Mountain

If Chatfield was riding high fresh off their 72-46 takedown of Bear Creek last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Chatfield Chargers took a 60-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rocky Mountain Lobos on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Lobos: they've now lost three in a row.

Chatfield's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sadie Goodwin, who posted 16 points and seven boards. Josie Lynch was another key player, putting up eight points and seven blocks.

Rocky Mountain had a senior duo take command as Meela Delap dropped a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds and Kenna Wagner went 8-for-15 on her way to 21 points and five boards. Wagner is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 53% in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Morgen Delap, who earned eight points and 11 rebounds.

Chatfield's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Rocky Mountain, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chatfield will venture away from home to take on Arvada West at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Arvada West knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Chatfield likes a good challenge. As for Rocky Mountain, they will head out on the road to challenge Windsor at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Windsor is on a seven-game streak of home wins, Rocky Mountain a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
