Basketball Recap: Van Horn Comes Up Short

Van Horn lost against Belton back in February of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Sunday. The Van Horn Falcons fell to the Belton Pirates 46-42. The game marked the Falcons' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Belton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayce Maiden led the charge by going 9 for 14 on his way to 18 points. Jw Johnson was another key player, putting up eight points and six rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Van Horn and nudges their season record down to 4-7. As for Belton, they moved to 4-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Van Horn will take on Oak Grove at 7:30 p.m. on January 7th. As for Belton, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-58 defeat against Fort Osage on the 30th.
