Football Game Preview: Ridgway/Johnsonburg vs. Brockway Rovers

Ridgway/Johnsonburg will take on the Brockway Rovers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Ridgway/Johnsonburg knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Brockway likes a good challenge.

Ridgway/Johnsonburg gave up the first points on Friday, but they didn't give up any more after. They snuck past Keystone with a 33-27 win.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Nate Steger and Markus Gerg. Steger rushed for 59 yards and two scores on only six carries while Gerg rushed for 143 yards. Gerg has become a key player for Ridgway/Johnsonburg: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 1-3 otherwise.

Ridgway/Johnsonburg was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 279 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 279 rushing yards in three consecutive contests.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Ridgway/Johnsonburg's defense and their three sacks. Gerg was especially locked on to Keystone's QB and sacked him twice.

Meanwhile, Brockway took a blow against Karns City on Friday, falling 63-27. While losing is never fun, the Rovers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 251st, while the Gremlins are ranked 105th).

The victory got Ridgway/Johnsonburg back to even at 4-4. As for Brockway, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

Ridgway/Johnsonburg suffered a grim 27-6 defeat to Brockway in their previous matchup back in September of 2024. Thankfully for Ridgway/Johnsonburg, Blake Pisarcik (who picked up 104 receiving yards and three TDs) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
