Baseball Recap: Palmer Comes Up Short

Palmer extended their losing streak to 17 on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-17. They lost 11-0 to the Harrison Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Terrors of the 12-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Palmer saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Rigney, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. That stolen base was Rigney's first of the season. Messiah Rogan was another, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with two stolen bases.

As for Harrison, the win snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 8-11 record. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.

On Harrison's side, Jonathan Van Der Merwede and Richard Galarza were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Van Der Merwede pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Galarza struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At bat, Van Der Merwede went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double, while Galarza went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Anthony Hernandez was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Archuleta, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

While Palmer had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
