Preview: Carver Challengers vs. Hancock Eagles
Carver is on a nine-game streak of home wins, while Hancock is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. Having just played yesterday, the Carver Challengers will get right back to it and host the Hancock Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on January 25th. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Carver: 11.7, Hancock: 12) so any points scored will be well earned.
Carver posted their closest victory yet this season on Wednesday. They didn't even let Longwood onto the board and left with a 2-0 win. Given Carver's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 170th, while Longwood is ranked 590th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Hancock didn't have too much trouble with DuSable at home on Wednesday as they won 29-15.
Carver's victory bumped their record up to 14-0. As for Hancock, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.
Carver and Hancock were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, but Carver came up empty-handed after a 22-21 loss. Can Carver avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
