Baseball Game Preview: Meadowdale Mavericks vs. Glacier Peak Grizzlies

The Meadowdale Mavericks will head out on the road to face off against the Glacier Peak Grizzlies at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Glacier Peak took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Meadowdale, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Meadowdale turned things around against Mountlake Terrace on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Hawks 4-2. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Tristan Dodds made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over 6.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that he hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Andre Titus, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two).

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Glacier Peak and Lake Stevens had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Grizzlies lost 9-3 to the Vikings on Friday. The Grizzlies have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Meadowdale's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 2-7. As for Glacier Peak, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.

Meadowdale skirted past Glacier Peak 7-6 in their previous matchup back in March of 2019. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mavericks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
