Basketball Recap: Norwood Falls Short of Tipton in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Norwood can now relate to. They received a blow on Saturday as they fell 61-42 to the Tipton Cardinals. The Pirates have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Norwood's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Kalie Chadwell, who shot 56% from the field to rack up 13 points, and Autumn Gunter, who posted 12 points and six boards. Chadwell is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Quinncy Vestal, who put up six points.

Even though they lost, Norwood was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. This was only their third loss (out of 25 games) when they've passed the ball that well.

Tipton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ava Schlotzhauer, who dropped a double-double with 20 points and ten rebounds. Clara Williams was another key player, going 6-for-10 on her way to 15 points and six steals.

Norwood's loss dropped their record down to 25-7. As for Tipton, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-5 record this season.

As of now, neither Norwood nor Tipton have any future games scheduled.
