The Greensburg Pirates will venture away from home to challenge the Connersville Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Greensburg is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.

Greensburg fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against East Central on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 4-3.

Ethan Smith put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Lance Coy was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Zayden Miller was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double. Cy Miller was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, Connersville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 7-2 to New Castle.

Greensburg's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-4. As for Connersville, their record now sits at 11-13.

Greensburg took their victory against Connersville in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 13-1 score. Do the Pirates have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
