Baseball Game Preview: Cox Mill Chargers vs. Hickory Ridge Ragin' Bulls

The Cox Mill Chargers will head out to face off against the Hickory Ridge Ragin' Bulls at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cox Mill is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Cox Mill came into this matchup off a tough ten-run defeat on Wednesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Mooresville by a score of 5-3 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Chargers have suffered since April 15, 2024.

Jackson Caldwell was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that he hit this season.

Caldwell wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Cartee, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base.

Hickory Ridge not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 7th. They put the hurt on A.L. Brown with a sharp 13-5 win.

Hickory Ridge pushed their record up to 9-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Cox Mill, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.

Cox Mill came out on top in a nail-biter against Hickory Ridge in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-3. Does Cox Mill have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hickory Ridge turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
