It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but West Ouachita ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Quitman Wolverines 7-6. The victory was familiar territory for the Chiefs, who have now won five matchups in a row.

West Ouachita's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-12. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Quitman, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-7.

Coincidentally, West Ouachita and Quitman will both be playing Benton the next time they take the field. The Wolverines will head out to face the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Chiefs will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
