Volleyball Game Preview: Vista del Lago Eagles vs. Ponderosa Bruins

After both having extra time off, the Vista del Lago Eagles and the Ponderosa Bruins will shake off the rust and duke it out at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Vista del Lago will be strutting in after a win while Ponderosa will be coming in after a defeat.

Vista del Lago took a loss when they played away from home last Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Thursday. They put the hurt on Inderkum with a sharp 3-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.

Vista del Lago never let Inderkum on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-16, 25-22.

Meanwhile, Ponderosa came up short against Rio Americano last Wednesday and fell 3-1. The Bruins have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

While Ponderosa had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-18, 16-25, 25-22.

Ponderosa's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Vista del Lago, they pushed their record up to 22-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Vista del Lago beat Ponderosa 3-1 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
