Volleyball Recap: Bishop Fenwick Takes a Loss

Bishop Fenwick was the 3-1 winner over Newburyport when they last played one another back in September of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Crusaders fell just short of the Clippers by a score of 3-2 on Friday. While the Crusaders didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Clippers 25-20 in the first set.

Bishop Fenwick started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 20-25, 20-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-20.

Charlotte Spooner paced Bishop Fenwick's offense, picking up ten kills. Spooner got some help from Emme Lubas and her 22 assists. Anna Diranian controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.

Bishop Fenwick has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Newburyport, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Clippers beat Bishop Fenwick by a score of 3-0 on Monday.
