Basketball Game Preview: Rocky River Ravens vs. Grimsley Whirlies

The Rocky River Ravens and the Grimsley Whirlies will face off at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Rocky River is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.6 points per game this season.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Rocky River challenged East Mecklenburg on Friday. Rocky River took a 43-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of East Mecklenburg. The game marked the Ravens' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jayden Ross, who posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was Jordan Walton, who scored ten points.

Meanwhile, Grimsley strolled past Southeast Guilford with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 64-45. Given the Whirlies' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 167th, while the Falcons are ranked 369th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Grimsley is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.8 points per game. As for Rocky River, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.
