Baseball Game Preview: Boardman Spartans vs. Austintown-Fitch Falcons

The Boardman Spartans will face off against the Austintown-Fitch Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Boardman will be strutting in after a victory while Austintown-Fitch will be coming in after a defeat.

Boardman's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They walked away with a 4-0 win over Washington. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

The result came thanks to Collin Resetar's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Kaden Mayhew was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Vince Butto, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Austintown-Fitch was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 9-2 to Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin.

Boardman now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Austintown-Fitch, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
