Basketball Recap: Worcester Prep Comes Up Short

Worcester Prep lost against The Gunston School back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Worcester Prep Mallards took a 39-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of The Gunston School Herons. The Mallards have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Layla Kent was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a triple-double on 25 points, nine rebounds, and 11 steals for The Gunston School. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Kent has scored at least a third of The Gunston School's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly McDonald, who posted five points along with six boards and five steals.

Worcester Prep now has a losing record at 3-4. As for The Gunston School, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-3.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Salisbury the next time they take the court. The Gunston School will host Salisbury at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while Worcester Prep will host them at 4:30 p.m. on February 4th.
