Recap: South Mecklenburg Sabres vs. Mooresville Blue Devils
The South Mecklenburg Sabres scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 90-89 victory over Mooresville. The win was just business as usual for South Mecklenburg, who after eight games remain undefeated this season.
Peter Moye was his usual excellent self, scoring 39 points along with six rebounds and four steals. The matchup was his eighth in a row with at least ten points. Anderson Skelton was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
South Mecklenburg pushed their record up to 8-0 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Mooresville, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Mecklenburg will be home for the holidays to greet Clover at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Clover focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Friday. Mooresville will finish 2023 at home by hosting Falls Lake at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Falls Lake will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 600th, while Mooresville is ranked 94th).
