Baseball Recap: Paul VI Takes a Loss

Paul VI entered their game against Flint Hill on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Paul VI Panthers fell just short of the Flint Hill Huskies by a score of 6-5. The loss was the Panthers' first of the season.

Paul VI got a good showing from Carter Perdue, who didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Thomas Jewett made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Owen Peltier, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Having lost for the first time this season, Paul VI fell to 3-1. As for Flint Hill, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Coming up, Paul VI is taking a road trip to challenge St. Stephen's & St. Agnes at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Paul VI's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so St. Stephen's & St. Agnes' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Flint Hill, they will welcome Georgetown Day at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be Flint Hill's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
