Nansemond-Suffolk Academy entered their tilt with Steward on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over the Spartans. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Saints have posted since April 15, 2024.

Gavin Angelillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cole Goodman, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Cam Bergen was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Nansemond-Suffolk Academy's record is now 12-9. As for Steward, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nansemond-Suffolk Academy will welcome Granby at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Comets will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Saints surely won't give up without a fight. As for Steward, they will be playing at home against Fredericksburg Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.15 runs per game on average), something the Spartans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
