Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Groveton's Ninth in Last Ten Outings

Groveton posted their closest win since March 7th on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Hemphill Hornets. This was a revenge game for the Indians: when they faced off against the Hornets back in March, they had to take a 6-1 loss.

JAKE PLOTTS spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Groveton's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was DAX PARKER, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another was CADE WHITE, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Groveton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Hemphill, they now have a losing record of 9-10.

Looking ahead, Groveton will look to defend their home field on Friday against Colmesneil at 6:00 p.m. As for Hemphill, they will head out to challenge Many at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
