Softball Game Preview: Russell County Lakers vs. Glasgow Scotties

The Russell County Lakers are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season: they will square off against the Glasgow Scotties at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Glasgow took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Russell County, who comes in off a win.

Russell County is headed out to face Glasgow after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Russell County was the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over Washington County on Monday.

Addison Hart was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Hart was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Rylen McGowan was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jaylee Roy, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Glasgow's offense. They fell 5-0 to Somerset on Friday.

Russell County suffered a grim 12-6 defeat to Glasgow in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can Russell County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
