Preview: Canadian Wildcats vs. Early Longhorns
The Canadian Wildcats will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Early Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Canadian had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 65-7 win over Littlefield. The victory was just business as usual for Canadian, who after 11 games remain undefeated this season.
Camren Cavalier had a dynamite game for Canadian, throwing for 320 yards and six touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes, and also punching in three touchdowns on the ground. Cavalier is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Dumbauld, who picked up 119 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Early blew past Compass Academy, posting a 54-13 win on the road. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Early.
Early's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Rohyn Price, who threw for 291 yards and three touchdowns while completing 78.9% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Andrew Reedy, who picked up 174 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Canadian has yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 11-0 record. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 44.83 points. As for Early, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Canadian against Early in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 42-14 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Early's Jeremy Brown, who picked up 160 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Canadian to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
