Salem had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Princess Anne on Tuesday. The Sundevils were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Cavaliers. That's more bragging rights for the Sundevils, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Not much got past Lauren Burchuk, who gave up just five hits to keep Princess Anne off the board.

On the hitting side, Madison Twiford was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Evie Miani, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Salem was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March.

Salem's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Princess Anne, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.

Looking ahead, Salem will welcome Cape Henry Collegiate at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Princess Anne, they are taking a road trip to square off against Kempsville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Chiefs' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Cavaliers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
