Basketball Recap: Make It 16 in a Row for Lake Marion

Lake Marion came tearing into Friday's match with 15 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Bridges Prep Buccaneers 62-37. The Gators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 25 points or more this season.

Lake Marion got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Zimarika Moorer out in front who posted 14 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Rayleigh Davis was another key player, going 5 of 11 on her way to 13 points and five steals.

Lake Marion smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 29 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bridges Prep only pulled down five offensive boards.

Despite the loss, Bridges Prep saw an underclassman step up: freshman Addie Taylor scored eight points in addition to ten boards and six blocks. Taylor is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 15 games she's played.

Lake Marion pushed their record up to 19-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.1 points over those games. As for Bridges Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lake Marion will challenge Edisto at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bridges Prep, they will head out to face off against Hampton County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hampton County's defense has only allowed 28.9 points per game this season, so Bridges Prep's offense will have their work cut out for them.
