If Colton beats Northview with seven runs on Monday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Colton beat Kaiser on Friday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-6.
JASMINE DELAROSA made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. DELAROSA was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on DESIREE ARMENTA, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. JOCELYN ORNELAS was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Colton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now hit at least 11 hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Northview made sure to put some runs up on the board against Riverside Prep on Saturday. Northview was the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over Riverside Prep.
Marilyn Sandoval was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. She also put up a double, which washer first of the season. Another player making a difference was Sophia Luna, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
Colton's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Northview, the victory got them back to even at 2-2-1.
Monday's match will be a test for both team's pitchers. Colton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having hit 0 of their hits per game. However, it's not like Northview struggles in that department as they've hit 0 of their hits this season. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Colton might still be hurting after the 13-2 loss they got from Northview in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Colton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
