Basketball Game Preview: Heard County Braves vs. Model Blue Devils

The Heard County Braves will head out on the road to square off against the Model Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Heard County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Model likes a good challenge.

Last Saturday, Heard County was able to grind out a solid victory over Southwest Atlanta Christian, taking the game 60-50.

Heard County's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cameron Ogletree, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds. That's the most boards Ogletree has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Jakari Andrews, who went 6 for 8 on his way to 12 points and five rebounds.

Heard County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Model on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Bremen out of the water with a 64-29 final score. Model has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 23 points or more this season.

Heard County pushed their record up to 9-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points per game. As for Model, their record now sits at 12-5.

Heard County was dealt a bruising 73-43 loss at the hands of Model when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Heard County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
