Basketball Preview: Kingston Cardinals vs. Ubly Bearcats

The Kingston Cardinals will head out on the road to take on the Ubly Bearcats at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Kingston is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.

Kingston can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They blew past Carsonville-Port Sanilac 63-29 at home.

Owen Corlis and Kaden Bruce were among the main playmakers for Kingston as the former scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and the latter dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that Bruce scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Peyton Harrington, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Ubly unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They suffered a rough 56-35 loss at the hands of Harbor Beach. While losing is never fun, Ubly can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 461st, while the Pirates are ranked 190th).

Kingston has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Ubly, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.

Kingston came up short against the Bearcats in their previous meeting back in March of 2022, falling 52-43. Can Kingston avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
