Football Game Preview: Bluffton Bobcats vs. Gilbert Indians

The Bluffton Bobcats will take on the Gilbert Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Bluffton will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

If Gilbert heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Bluffton took over last week. The Bobcats walked away with a 28-21 victory over May River on Thursday. That's two games straight that the Bobcats have won by exactly seven points.

Bluffton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aedan McCarthy, who rushed for 95 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries, and also threw for 217 yards and a pair of TDs. Another back making a difference was Kordell Holley, who rushed for 118 yards and one score on only 13 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Bluffton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 248 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Gilbert's offense. They had to suffer through a 49-0 loss at the hands of Gray Collegiate Academy. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 66th, while the War Eagles are ranked 17th).

Bluffton's record is now 8-2. As for Gilbert, they moved to 5-5 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
