Baseball Recap: Service Continues Road Dominance on Friday

Service is still undefeated this season after their game against Eagle River on Friday, but Eagle River came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Cougars skirted past the Wolves 3-1. The three-run effort marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Rilen Niclai was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Braun Precosky looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

Service pushed their record up to 12-0 with the win, which was their 16th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Eagle River, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-3-1.
