Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Lexi Vanderlei and Jordyn Voigt Lead Avon to Victory

Avon proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out the Centerville Tornadoes 3-2. Winning may never get old, but the Pirates sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Avon wouldn't go down easily and took Centerville into a fifth set where they got it done with a two-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-20, 21-25, 18-25, 15-13.

Leading Avon to victory were Jordyn Voigt and Lexi Vanderlei. Voigt had 21 digs and two assists, while Vanderlei had 18 digs and two aces. Those 18 digs gave Vanderlei a new career-high.

Avon's victory bumped their record up to 15-10. As for Centerville, they dropped their record down to 10-13 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Avon will welcome Ethan at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Centerville, they will venture away from home to square off against Baltic at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
