League recap: Carter breaks off league-leading run for Lamar County

2A Region 4 recap September 4, 2013

Cullin Carter of Lamar County ran for the longest rushing play in 2A Region 4 this season against South Lamar last week. Carter's team topped the Stallions as he sprinted for 60 yards on the play and finished with 41 in all.

Cold Springs was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to third in the league. The Eagles beat Decatur Heritage Christian Academy 34-0 earlier in the week.

Ty Waldon made the biggest impact on defense this week as Lamar County defeated South Lamar. He.

Alex Wheeler provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Ken Adams' team beat the Stallions.

Wheeler was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 7 carries, he ran for 115 yards as the Bulldogs beat South Lamar. Teammate Tim Harton added to the ground attack by rushing for 73 yards.

Wheeler was the best receiver in 2A Region 4 this week as Lamar County topped the Stallions.

The Bulldogs are currently in fourth, while Oakman is in first.

The Wildcats and Parrish played the most contested game in the league this week, with the Wildcats eventually emerging with a 29-28 victory.
