Baseball Game Preview: Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles vs. Dreher Blue Devils

Gray Collegiate Academy and Dreher are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The War Eagles will challenge the Blue Devils at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Gray Collegiate Academy will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

Gray Collegiate Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of South Carolina's top teams: Airport, who was ranked 11th at the time (Gray Collegiate Academy was ranked 14th). The War Eagles narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Eagles 5-4.

Zak Perry made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noah Styron, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

Meanwhile, Dreher lost 15-4 to York on Thursday. The Blue Devils haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Gray Collegiate Academy's record now sits at 12-3. As for Dreher, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.

Gray Collegiate Academy got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in May of 2025 against Dreher by a conclusive 7-0 score. Do the War Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
