High school basketball: Breaking down the updated 247Sports Class of 2024 rankings

Flory Bidunga, Dylan Harper, Asa Newell and Carter Bryant ascend into top 10 of junior class.

The 2022-23 high school basketball season is quickly approaching with games set to begin around the country in just over a month. To get you prepared for the upcoming year, 247Sports released its updated Class of 2024 rankings Wednesday with Tre Johnson overtaking Ian Jackson for the top spot in the junior class.

Plenty of players saw their standing improve in a major way, including newly-minted top 10 prospects Flory Bidunga, who ascended to No. 4, Dylan Harper (No. 5), Asa Newell (No. 6) and Carter Bryant (No. 7).

Bidunga also headlined the list of five players who climbed into the top 50 after previously being unranked. Jared Harris debuted at No. 37, Labaron Philon sits at No. 40, Peyton Marshall is ranked No. 48 and Juke Harris comes in as the No. 50 overall prospect in the Class of 2024.

Two NIBC powerhouses feature a trio of top 50 junior prospects. Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.) heads into th eseason with Newell, Derik Queen and Liam McNeeley while IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) counters with Bryson Tucker, Khani Rooths and Amier Ali.
