Milton triumphant thanks to a strong effort from Luke Nickel

Recap: Milton Eagles vs. Colquitt County Packers

The Milton Eagles had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Colquitt County on Friday and snuck past 39-37. Winning may never get old, but Milton sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.

Luke Nickel was his usual excellent self, throwing for 289 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for 119 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Debron Gatling was another key contributor, picking up 137 receiving yards and a touchdown.

When it comes to explaining why Colquitt County lost, one person who can't be blamed is Neko Fann. Despite the final result, he threw for 322 yards and four touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Landen Thomas, who picked up 63 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Milton has yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 11-2 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.7 points per game. As for Colquitt County, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 12-1.

Milton will head out on the road to face off against Grayson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in the nation (Grayson is ranked 17th, while Milton is ranked 28th). Colquitt County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
