Baseball Recap: Owensville Victorious

Owensville came out on top against Steelville on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Dutchmen narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Cardinals 7-5. The win continues a trend for the Dutchmen in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won seven in a row.

Owensville got a massive performance out of Chase Weirich, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Weirich has become a key player for the Dutchmen: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 7-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Kramme, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Owensville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Owensville's victory bumped their record up to 11-9. As for Steelville, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Looking ahead, Owensville will be playing in front of their home fans against Cuba at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Steelville, they will take on Dixon at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday.
