Basketball Recap: Marshall Comes Up Short

Marshall was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 60-57 heartbreaker at the hands of the Shelbyville Rams. The Lions were probably out for revenge after losing 63-48 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Shelbyville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Myles Hammond led the charge by going 6 for 11 on his way to 19 points. Jackson Jokisch was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 13 boards.

Marshall's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-6. As for Shelbyville, they pushed their record up to 11-3 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Marshall wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 59-45 loss against Casey-Westfield on the 17th. Shelbyville has also already played their next contest, a 62-59 defeat against Clinton on the 17th.
