Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Olivia Simonson and Jada Reese Lead Springfield to Victory

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Windom, Springfield was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Mountain Lake/Comfrey. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 victory Mountain Lake/Comfrey walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Springfield wouldn't go down easily and took Mountain Lake/Comfrey into a fifth set where they got it done with a eight-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 14-25, 22-25, 25-23, 15-7.

Leading Springfield to victory were Jada Reese and Olivia Simonson. Reese had 15 digs, while Simonson had 14 digs and four aces. That's the most digs Simonson has posted since back in September.

They weren't the only good servers: Springfield was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

When it comes to explaining why Mountain Lake/Comfrey lost, don't look at Nadia Phommachan. Despite the final result, she had eight digs and one block. Phommachan is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in each of the last five games she's played.

Springfield's win bumped their record up to 6-18. As for Mountain Lake/Comfrey, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-14-1.

Looking ahead, Springfield will take on Cleveland at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Clippers will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. Mountain Lake/Comfrey does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
