Preview: Crean Lutheran Saints vs. St. Mary's Knights
Crean Lutheran has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the St. Mary's Knights at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Crean Lutheran posted their biggest win since January 5th on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Pacifica with a sharp 73-50 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Crean Lutheran has posted against Pacifica since May 11, 2021.
Kaiden Bailey was his usual excellent self, scoring 27 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Matt Ciftcikara, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, St. Mary's waltzed into their game on Wednesday with nine straight wins but they left with ten. They blew past Marcos de Niza 95-34 at home. Given St. Mary's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Marcos de Niza is ranked 187th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Crean Lutheran is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 13-11 record this season. As for St. Mary's, they pushed their record up to 17-6 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
