The McCluer South-Berkeley Bulldogs can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Affton and snuck past 47-45. The win was just what McCluer South-Berkeley needed coming off of a 70-32 loss in their prior matchup.
Affton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Amelia Wilson, who scored 20 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Wilson hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna M daughtry, who scored seven points along with ten steals and five assists.
The victory got McCluer South-Berkeley back to even at 1-1. As for Affton, their loss dropped their record down to 11-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McCluer South-Berkeley will challenge Hazelwood Central at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. McCluer South-Berkeley is coming into the match with two straight victories on the road, so Hazelwood Central is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Affton, they will square off against Parkway Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Affton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 32 on Thursday.
