Mount Vernon extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping them down to 3-6. They came up short against the Osbourn Park Yellowjackets, falling 13-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellowjackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 24-0 back in March.
Mount Vernon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alannah Martinez, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
As for Osbourn Park, their record now sits at 8-1. Considering they have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
On Osbourn Park's side, KyLeigh Cammie made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Cammie was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Osbourn Park got a massive performance out of Catarina Welch, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI Welch has posted since back in May of 2025. Madison Pignone was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Looking ahead, Mount Vernon will head out on the road to challenge Edison at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Majors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 13.6 runs per game this season. As for Osbourn Park, they will welcome Independence at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
