Basketball Game Preview: Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood Mavericks vs. Westhope/Newburg Sioux

Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood is 8-2 against Westhope/Newburg since December of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood Mavericks will challenge the Westhope/Newburg Sioux at 6:00 p.m.

Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Tioga just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 57-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pirates.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westhope/Newburg). They strolled past North Shore with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 63-46. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Westhope/Newburg found their leader in sophomore Macy Bryans, who almost dropped a triple-double on 21 points, nine rebounds, and 12 steals. Bryans' evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Ashley Tabarez was another key player, putting up 11 points and five boards.

Westhope/Newburg was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Westhope/Newburg's victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-12. As for Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-6.

Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood beat Westhope/Newburg 49-42 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
