Volleyball Recap: Southwest Comes Up Short

Southwest lost against Galena back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Trojans came up short against the Bears, falling 3-0. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Southwest took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-16, 25-18.

Despite the loss, Southwest still got an impressive performance from Olivia Hnem, who had 19 digs and two aces. Hnem has been hot recently, having posted 13 or more digs the last four times she's played.

Leading Galena to victory were Chloe Simpson and Mel Rice. Simpson had 14 assists and four digs, while Rice had 12 kills and 12 digs.

Southwest's loss dropped their record down to 11-18-3. As for Galena, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-10-3.

Southwest wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against McAuley Catholic on the 20th. As for Galena, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Exeter on the 21st.
