Recap: River Valley Dust Devils vs. Lincoln County Lynx
The River Valley Dust Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 43-10 loss at the hands of Lincoln County. While losing is never fun, River Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 283rd in Arizona, while Lincoln County is ranked 61st in Nevada).
Despite the defeat, River Valley saw an underclassman step up: Cherity Gonzalez scored eight points along with six rebounds. Those six rebounds set a new season-high mark for her.
River Valley bumped their record down to 1-8 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.0 points per game. As for Lincoln County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-6 record this season.
River Valley won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Moapa Valley at 4:30 p.m. on December 20th. Hopefully Moapa Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Wednesday. Lincoln County will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Varsity Opponent at 6:00 p.m. on December 19th. Varsity Opponent has now lost 16 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 12.
