Recap: Caldwell Bluejays vs. Udall Eagles
The Caldwell Bluejays won the last time they faced the Udall Eagles, and things went their way on Friday too. Caldwell narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Udall 46-44. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 12 more assists than your opponent, as Caldwell did.
Among those leading the charge was Jackson Risley, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Risley has scored at least 25% of Caldwell's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Layten Caruthers, who scored ten points.
Despite the loss, Udall still got an impressive performance from Jenson Harness, who scored 27 points along with six rebounds. The matchup was Harness' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brent Burley, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Caldwell's victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Udall, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Caldwell will be playing at home against Norwich on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Kansas (Norwich is ranked 109th, while Caldwell is ranked 116th). Udall won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Argonia at 11:30 a.m. on December 9th. Hopefully Argonia focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday.
