Basketball Preview: Mojave Rattlers vs. Las Vegas Wildcats

The Mojave Rattlers are taking a road trip to square off against the Las Vegas Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mojave is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

While Mojave didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victors by a 59-37 margin over Somerset Academy Losee on Friday. Fans of the Rattlers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Mojave can attribute much of their success to Isabella Crawford, who posted 20 points, and A'Yanna Johnson, who earned 15 points. Those 20 points gave Crawford a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Armonney Wright, who had nine points.

Meanwhile, Las Vegas was able to grind out a solid win over Legacy on Wednesday, taking the game 49-42.

Las Vegas found their leader in sophomore Sariyah Johnson, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 21 boards. Johnson has been hot for a while, having posted 13 or more rebounds the last 11 times she's played. Another player making a difference was NaKyma Pritchett, who scored six points and 11 boards.

Las Vegas smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 14 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Las Vegas' first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Mojave, their record now sits at 4-0.
